Ingredients
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 cups old fashioned oats
- 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/3 cup dark karo syrup
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- In a large microwave bowl, melt the butter. Add the flour, oats, brown sugar, salt, vanilla, baking soda and karo syrup. Mix until all the ingredients are combined. Press the oat mixture into a 9x 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15- 20 minutes or until the sides are bubbly and the top is slightly browned. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes. Add the peanut butter by scoopfuls all over the top of the oatmeal base. Let rest 5 minutes. Spread melted peanut butter over bars. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove and stir. Repeat until melted. Pour the melted chocoate chips on top of the peanut butter. Spread. Cool completely. Cut into 32 bars. SStore on counter for 1 week in a sealed container or freeze up to 3 months.
